Quite late in this week’s post for One Room Challenge trying to get so much finished! We are in our last week!
Go check out everyone’s projects as they are finishing this week and get ready for the big reveal!
If you are playing catch up, you can see my previous posts for our front yard entryway and porch here:
Bringing Attention to the Front Porch
We wanted to get rid of our 60s terra cotta mosaic-tiled red brick porch. It was the last of the red brick on our house.
I love the look of the weathered wood porcelain tile planks and I knew I wanted to do a herringbone pattern. Our porch is quite small so not many tile patterns would have fit with the size of tile I picked out.
Our old steps have sunken a bit through the years so we had the bottom step leveled with the cement walkway. The other two steps are not quite the same height so I decided to add an accent tile to the larger step to pull your attention away.
I’m planning on painting the rest of the brick showing as well as the pavers this week to finish tying everything together.
Framing the Porch with Pedestals
I originally wanted to add railings to coordinate with the pergola and bring out the warmer tones in the tile. The concrete footers disagreed with me so I switched them up with tall wooden pedestals.
I love the way it draws attention to the porch and adds the perfect perch for some colorful flowering plants.
Adding Finishing Touches
This week I will be:
– finishing up the pillows and cushions for the bench swings.
– weeding and finish placing mulch.
– fill in under pergola with pea gravel.
– add lighting.
– paint bricks and pavers.
– plant a mosquito-repelling container garden.
– add final misc touches.
