It’s finally here!
I was just telling my husband how everything around us right now feels like some weird sci-fi movie. I am so happy to step away from the outer surreal world and focus on our home.
I know it will be a challenge finding and getting materials right now, and add on that this is an outdoor project and I will be at the mercy of the weather, but I’m still excited!
It is Week 1 of the One Room Challenge and you have to check out what everyone is starting with! WooHoo!
Outdated Front Yard and Porch with No Curb Appeal
Can you believe I can’t find any of my before photos?!! Lol, I had to get this one from Google. Oh well.
We never loved the outside of our house, but it had “good bones”.
Early First Steps to Updating Curb Appeal of Front of the House
We started off painting our red brick house a light neutral gray to tone it down for a perfect backdrop to build on.
We updated the front porch lighting with some more modern fixtures.
We swapped the 50-year-old windows for some that are more efficient and updated the shutters.
Some of the Old has Gotta Go!
This brick walkway was the biggest pain to keep clear of weeds and my husband and I both agreed it had to go! We enlisted our friend at Ace Concrete to complete the job while I got busy thinning trees.
Wrapping up Week 1
The starting base of our porch and yard project was finished up with new doors, a handpainted address plaque, and a beautiful curvy walkway lit by new solar lights.
This is just the beginning! Follow along next week as we work on the front porch…no more red bricks!
